The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency will focus its assistance to Moldova on promoting democracy, human rights and gender equality, as well as sustainable and market development under the agency’s new strategy for the former Soviet republic.

The 2011-2014 strategy aims to support Moldova’s integration into the European Union.

In promoting democratic governance, Sida will bolster the role of civil society organizations, as well as boost transparency and accountability in public administration.

Sida will also work to increase energy efficiency in Moldova and help the country adapt to the EU’s food and commerce regulations.
