Solomon Islands

More than 60 observers from various international organizations are expected to monitor the country’s national parliamentary elections on August 4. The U.N. Development Program is in charge of coordinating the entire election observation effort, which will cover up to 180 of the Solomon Islands’ 876 polling stations. UNDP will also provide pre- and post-election briefings as well as logistical, operational and administrative support. The observers include representatives from Australia, the European Union, Japan and the U.S., among others.
