    How much would a “sudden reunification” of South and North Korea cost? Some USD2.14 trillion by 2040 if North Korea suddenly collapsed and had to be absorbed by the South, according to figures released by the Presidential Council for Future and Vision. The council added that the amount would be lowered to USD322 billion if North Korea gradually opens up to efforts by the South, such as President Lee Myung-bak’s “Vision 3000: Denuclearization and Openness” initiative, the Chosun Ilbo said.
