Unusually heavy rainfall has prompted five southern African countries to issue flood warnings on Jan. 21, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe warned that the flooding could affect thousands of people and destroy crops, homes and infrastructure.
