Spain, WHO Create Humanitarian Assistance Fund

Spain and the World Health Organization are establishing a special fund aimed at supporting the humanitarian needs of people affected by crises and emergencies.

The fund is also expected to boost the capacity of WHO in responding to humanitarian crises and local governments for better coordination of humanitarian aid efforts, according to the Office for Humanitarian Action at the Spanish Agency for International Development.

The fund will finance immunization campaigns, epidemiological surveillance, maternal and child health programs, prevention and control of communicable diseases, mental health programs, nutrition drives and public health programs during a crisis, among other activities.
