The Sri Lankan government said it plans to resettle all internally displaced people in the country by the end of this year, IRIN reports, citing senior government officials.

An official of the Ministry for Resettlement said the government is confident it would also be able to close Menik Farm, the largest IDP camp in the country, by the end of 2011 but added that demining initiatives need to be completed before plans to resettle IDPs can be fully executed.
