Sweden seeks $500M for Lebanon in donor conference

The target for the upcoming conference for Lebanon is $500 million, according to Swedish Aid Minister Carin Jamtin. “I would be disappointed if we do not reach the goal … This is about allowing the people to start their lives over now,” Jamtin said. The money will be used to provide pre-fabricated shelters to 30,000 families and clean up unexploded bombs and landmines. Sweden already committed $30 million and Italy pledged EUR30 million ($38.5 million) towards the relief efforts.
