Swedes are dissatisfied with how development financing for Zambia is being managed. There is an ongoing debate in Sweden to ensure its foreign assistance is actually helping improve the quality of living in the African nations, Swedish Ambassador to Zambia Marie Andersson de Frutos said. The Swedish government last year suspended its funding for the Zambian Ministry of Health following a scam.
“It has been an on-going discussion on how best to use development cooperation fund. We are not happy, of course we have raised this with the government concerned,” De Frutos was quoted by The Post Online. “Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we have to freeze funds due to mismanagement … Our people have questioned how the development cooperation funds are utilised.”
