Swiss Public Supports Foreign Aid

A huge chunk of the Swiss population sees development aid as an effective way to fight global poverty and address development problems, Swiss Info reports. The newspaper was quoting the results of a survey by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Alliance of Development Organizations. The survey showed that 53 percent of the Swiss population favored maintaining the country’s aid spending at its current level while 30 percent endorsed an increase. Some 30 percent said climate change and other global issues should be on top of the public and private development cooperation agenda, Swiss Info adds.
