The Swiss government is providing a total of 82 million Swiss francs ($88.1 million) to support the International Committee of the Red Cross’ operations in 2011 and efforts of countries in the Middle East and North Africa to transition into democracy.
The contribution of 70 million Swiss francs to ICRC will come from the government’s credit facility for humanitarian aid, according to a Swiss government press release.

Meanwhile, aside from providing 12 million Swiss francs in emergency aid, Switzerland will also deploy 14 personnel from the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit to strengthen the political transition process in the MENA region.
