Switzerland made its presence in the newly independent country of Kosovo official. “Kosovo is a state for us, and we will have normal relations … That’s why we’re opening an embassy,” Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey averred. On top of this new development, the central European nation is preparing to increase its aid to the former Serbian province. Currently, it provides USD79 million each year and will declare its intention to boost that amount at a donor conference in June.
