Taiwan Strengthens Ties With Marshall Islands, Commits Medical Assistance

    Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou promised to strengthen the country’s ties with the Marshall Islands, Taiwan News reports. Ma said he plans to build on the formal diplomatic ties established by the two countries in 1998 with deeper cooperation in the sectors of education, agriculture, health, technology and fisheries. Ma, who visited the Marshall Islands on March 22, also pledged to provide some 2.14 million Taiwanese dollars (USD126, 000) worth of medical supplies to the country.
