Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has announced that he will dissolve the country’s parliament in May to pave the way for a national election. The conduct of an election was among the key demands of the thousands of protesters who took to the streets of Bangkok in March 2010. The protesters, called the Red Shirts, also called for Vejjajiva’s resignation.
