The 45th annual ADB meeting: A preview

They are just some of the nearly 4,000 delegates set to attend the 45th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank May 2-5 in Manila, Philippines. Attendees include policymakers, business leaders, media practitioners, academics, and civil society and development institution representatives.

Several knowledge sharing events are set to take place at the annual meet, including the following:

  • A roundtable discussion on water challenges in Asia.

  • A seminar on urban disaster risk management.

  • A seminar sharing key findings and policy recommendations from the book, “Climate Change and Green Asia.”

  • A seminar exploring the role of policy and rising food prices on the global food supply.

  • A discussion on the global aid structure and its link to development cooperation in Asia.

Moreno, president of the Inter-American Development Bank, will also participate in a dialogue with ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda on economic growth and cooperation between Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean — the highlight of this year’s meeting.

Several civil society events touching on innovation, social media and development effectiveness are also set to take place within the said dates.
