The Trump administration has begun to formally cancel hundreds of USAID contracts and grants, according to several sources and internal documents obtained by Devex.
The initial number of proposed terminations surpassed 800, several sources said — with the targeted projects encompassing everything from health care to election monitoring to rural internet access. And more are still rolling in.
“Your award has been reviewed for programmatic efficiency and consistency with United States foreign policy,” stated one termination notice, which was sent to a former USAID partner on Tuesday morning. “Please confirm receipt.”
