A controversial proposal to outlaw homosexuality will likely be abandoned following an international outcry.

    Funding decreases may squash the gains achieved in combating AIDS in Uganda, UNAIDS country coordinator for the nation Musa Bugundu said, highlighting the importance of reducing mother-to-child transmission rates and the education of girls.

    The Ugandan government intends to set up an embassy in Ankara, Turkey, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni said. Museveni will meet with Turkish President Abdullah Gul to discuss bilateral cooperation and matters concerning the Security Council, The New Vision reports.
