The Ugandan parliament has permitted the government to secure loans worth more than USD162 million to help alleviate poverty in rural communities. The parliament also approved the government’s request to borrow USD13.57 million from the Islamic Development Bank to support the expansion of national technical colleges, according to The New Vision. Meanwhile, agriculture officials and researchers in Uganda cautioned that a new strain of Cassava Mosaic Disease could destroy at least 202,342 hectares of crops.
