The United States Agency for International Development, World Food Program, Equity Bank and Kenya-based UNGA Holdings are helping to boost millet production in Uganda. The project will provide Ugandan farmers with grants, warehouse facilities and loans. About 2,000 metric tons of millet are expected to be produced and exported to Kenya in 2011 to reach 6,000 tons annually by 2013, The New Vision reports.
