Uganda to be selective in accepting aid

Uganda will be more discriminating in accepting international aid, according to President Yoweri Museveni. He was referring to grants from the Global Fund, which earlier announced the temporary suspension of funding to Uganda. He said “this Global Fund came to lead my people into temptation … so this aid must be selectively accepted.” Museveni also reminded the country’s development partners that “their role is to support the vision of Uganda - nothing more, nothing less.” The Ugandan president believed “any aid-led vision rather than vision-led strategy is bound to fail or, at best, produce mediocre results.” (Source: Ugandan govt to accept aid selectively: president/Xinhua)
