UK Gives Demining Aid to Sri Lanka

The U.K. Department for International Development is contributing 3 million pounds ($4.8 million) to support demining activities in Sri Lanka.

Alistair Burt, the British parliamentary undersecretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs, announced the contribution during the kickoff of his two-day visit to the Asian nation on Feb. 21.

Burt said his trip was meant to encourage bilateral trade between the two countries.
