UK Gives More Funding Only for Best Performing Organizations

The British government will only provide supplementary funding "to the best performing organizations," U.K. International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander

. The decision, he added, is part of the U.K.'s commitment to making the United Nations more effective. An additional 6.5 million pounds ($10 million) will be made available to four U.N. agencies, namely the U.N. Population Fund, UNAIDS, U.N. Development Program and World Health Organization.
