UK Hikes Aid for Palestinians

The British government will provide more funding to help deliver essential services and boost the private sector in the Gaza Strip.

The Department for International Development is offering 13 million pounds (USD20 million) to help the Palestinian Authority deliver essential services including education.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East will also receive 8 million pounds from DfID to help provide essential services such as child and maternal health care. Some 2 million pounds, meanwhile, has been allocated for the private sector in Gaza, which will be used to expand 300 existing businesses and 4 startups in the area.

U.N. and Palestinian Authority teams working to facilitate access for Gaza imports will also receive 310,000 pounds.
