UK Offers More Aid to Palestinian Refugees

The U.K. Department for International Development is providing 1.5 million pounds (USD2.4 million) to assist Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

The funding, which will be channeled through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, will cover rental subsidies for 3,436 families for two months, as well as hospitalization and assistance in the purchase of medicines for 1,172 families for one month.

The British government has committed some 110 million pounds in core funding for UNRWA through 2011.
