UK Royal Navy Ship to Head for Haiti

A United Kingdom Royal Navy ship loaded with relief supplies is expected to head out to Haiti in late January at the request of the United Nations.

"This ship will provide a lifeline of essential supplies to sustain the recovery effort over the coming weeks to keep Haiti running," said Department for International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander.

The ship will also help U.N. ferries transport supplies in outlying ports around Haiti.
