The Ukrainian parliament on Thursday (April 7) passed bills aimed at stemming corruption among its members and preventing money laundering and terrorism finance.

President Viktor Yanukovych said these bills alone are not adequate to meet international standards on corruption fight.

“We can overcome shady and corrupt services, and corrupt rents only if the whole society rises to this struggle,” Yanukovych was quoted by The Wall Street Journal as saying.
