UN agency kicks off flood relief for Mozambique

The World Food Program revealed that it has begun jetting relief materials to Mozambique after severe flooding tore into the country, killing 14 people and displacing entire communities. According to the Mozambican government, at least USD43 million will be required to organize rescue operations and to cover other costs for humanitarian services and fuel, among others. In response to the disaster, the WFP distributed mosquito nets, tents, and plastic sheeting to affected areas in central Mozambique, and has further plans of sending in 74 tons of food over the next four days.
