UN Chief Dismisses US Envoy From Afghan Mission

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has removed U.S. diplomat Peter Galbraith as deputy chief of a U.N. mission in Afghanistan, following the envoy's argument with his boss over the results of the Afghan presidential election,

reports. Ban recognizes Galbraith's important contributions to the U.N. but decided to dismiss him in the interest of the mission, a statement from the U.N. chief's office said.
