Hamas broke into the offices of non-governmental organizations in the Gaza Strip, confiscating materials and shutting down the NGOs, U.N. News Center reports.

Robert Serry, the United Nations special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, expressed concern over the incident.

“This targeting of NGOs, including UN partner organizations, is unacceptable, violating accepted norms of a free society and harming the Palestinian people,” Serry said.
