UN Helps Haiti Resume Some International Mail Services

With support from the United Nations Universal Postal Union, Haiti is partially restoring international mail services since the Jan. 12 earthquake.

UPU expects full restoration of mail exchanges between Haiti and other UPU member states to happen soon. It has already notified the U.S. and France that both can start releasing mail bound for the Caribbean nation.

The U.N. agency is constructing a 600-square-meter structure in the SONAPI industrial park near the airport in Port-au-Prince to serve as an international mail exchange office.
