The top United Nations relief official has praised Qatar for the country’s role in global relief efforts.
“We share a determination to improve the lives of people affected by humanitarian disasters around the world,” U.N. Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos said at the conclusion of her trip to the country on Feb. 20.
Her visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between the Middle Eastern country, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the global humanitarian community, the U.N. News Center says.
Qatar participates in various global humanitarian efforts, including the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group and the advisory group of the Central Emergency Response Fund.
