UN: Kyrgyzstan in Need of More Humanitarian Aid

The United Nations and its partners are seeking an additional USD42 million to help address humanitarian needs in Kyrgyzstan.

The funding will support humanitarian services for those affected by the clashes between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks in the southern cities of Osh and Jalalabad in June.

The U.N. launched a USD96 million aid appeal for Kyrgyzstan in the wake of the unrest. The appeal is 55 percent funded, with donations totaling USD51 million, according to the U.N. News Center.
