UN Launches Climate Change Mitigation Scheme

The United Nations Development Program will boost the capacity of national governments and local regions in coping with the impacts of climate change under a new initiative unveiled at the World Summit of Regions on Climate Change in France. Developing and emerging economies may access supplementary resources to mitigate the effects of global warming. “We believe it would be useful to develop a complementary [and] yet comprehensive integrated local planning framework that involves sub-national governments in the search for solutions,” Christophe Nuttall, director of UNDP’s HUB for Innovative Partnerships.
