Sweden welcomed the prospect of convening the next United Nations meeting on the proposed five-year International Compact with Iraq in the country next month. “We want to be a part of the U.N. efforts to get a better process in place when it comes to the development in Iraq,” Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said. The decision came after U.N. secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon and Iraq prime minister Nouri al-Maliki made a request for Sweden to host the gathering.
