The UN is continuing to rush assistance to help those uprooted by clashes in the war-torn far east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), including victims of violence at the hands of the notorious Ugandan rebel group known as the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). Since Dec. 28, more than 300 people have been killed during LRA attacks in north-eastern DRC, according to the UNHCR and the National Refugee Commission. The UN's food agency WFP has distributed more than 20 tons of food to 7,300 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and their host families.
