UN Promotes Women Empowerment in Africa

The United Nations is encouraging gender-responsive planning, programming and budgeting among local governments of five African countries. The three-year initiative worth USD8 million aims to foster women participation in local government processes in Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Tanzania. The U.N. Development Fund for Women, the U.N. Development Fund and the U.N. Capital Development Fund will manage the program.
