UN Reveals 2010 Budget Proposal, Highlights 2009 Commitment Shortfalls

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has proposed a USD4.88 billion budget for 2010 to 2011. The amount is higher by 0.5 percent from the 2009-2010 budget of USD4.86 billion, The

reports. Meanwhile, U.N. Undersecretary-General for Management Angela Kane has announced that 170 of the 192 U.N. member countries have outstanding dues with the organization. Kane said that some USD3.1 billion is still owed to the 2008-2009 U.N. budget.
