UN Seeks Fast Implementation of Darfur Peace Deal

The United Nations Security Council is seeking fast implementation of the framework peace agreement between the Sudanese government and the main rebel group in Darfur, Justice and Equality Movement, the Peninsula reports. The agency also urged other Darfur parties to engage in the ongoing peace-building process. Sudan and JEM signed the provisional deal in a Doha convention hosted by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud.
