The United Nations and International Organization for Migration are seeking USD51 million to address humanitarian needs in Liberia.
An ongoing political crisis in Cote d’Ivoire has forced Ivorians to flee to neighboring Liberia. The U.N. appeal will cover the needs of current and projected refugees as well as other vulnerable groups in Liberia over the next six months.
The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees will manage the funding, of which USD31 million will be used to provide protection and assistance to refugees. Another USD10.8 million will help to address the food requirements of refugees and host communities. The aid appeal will also cover nutrition, health care, water, sanitation and hygiene, protection, education and logistics needs.
