UN Seeks USD51M for Sri Lanka

The United Nations is appealing for USD51 million to assist flood victims in Sri Lanka.

The funding will address humanitarian needs of more than 1 million flood-affected Sri Lankans over the next six months. The appeal will be revised within the next month to reflect the needs on the ground as the disaster evolves.

Immediate needs in the Asian nation include food, agricultural and livelihood interventions, shelter and nonfood items, health and nutrition services, water, sanitation and hygiene, and education.
