UN Unveils Afghan Literacy Scheme

are collaborating with Afghanistan's Ministry of Education to implement literacy and nonformal education programs in the central Asian nation. UNESCO's initiative will provide literacy and skills training to 600,000 learners in 18 provinces while UNICEF will focus on achieving a 20 percent increase in the literacy rate for women by 2013 in all 34 Afghan provinces.
