UNEP Begins Assessment of Haiti Environmental Needs

The United Nations Environment Program has

earthquake-damaged buildings in Haiti to help curb potential environmental emergencies there. UNEP is also making sure environmental issues will be integrated in long-term recovery and reconstruction plans for Haiti, according to U.N. emergency relief chief John Holmes. The issues include waste management, debris disposal, and mass burials.
