UNICEF Seeks Funds to Address Malnutrition in Sahel Region

Tens of thousands of children in Africa’s Sahel Region are at risk of experiencing severe malnutrition unless donors scale up their funding for humanitarian programs in the region, UNICEF said April 9.

The Sahel region is located south of the Sahara Desert and includes Niger Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Mali, northern Nigeria and Chad. UNICEF said malnutrition rates of these countries are among the highest in the world.
