UNICEF sends flood aid to Zambia

The United Nations Children’s Fund will give over USD1 million in emergency aid to help around 70,000 families affected by severe flooding in Zambia. The UNICEF will hand out tents, school supplies, and basic household items, and is also working to make sure that sanitation measures are carried out in the communities to avoid the outbreak of diarrhea, malaria, and cholera. “Urgent action is crucial to prevent outbreaks of disease, which are of great concern at the onset of a crisis, especially among children,” said UNICEF emergency coordinator Claudia Hudspeth.
