UNITAID Invites Liberia to AIDS, Malaria Financing Project

UNITAID invited Liberia to participate in an innovative project that aims to raise funds for development projects and toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals. In a press release, the Liberian government said President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf received a proposal from the U.N. agency to impose a small tax on plane tickets. Funds raised through this initiative will be used to finance HIV/AIDS and malaria prevention programs of UNITAID in developing countries.
