US Funds Iraqi Museum Repair

The U.S. government will disburse USD13 million help renovate Iraq’s National Museum, which was ransacked after the American-led invasion of the country in 2003. “This is an investment not only in Iraq’s heritage but in the world’s heritage,” said U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker. The grant will back restoration efforts as well as archaeology and museum training projects. (“US gives Iraq USD13 million to fix looted museum” - Thomson Reuters, Oct. 20, 2008)
