US Gives Red Cross Funding for Chile Efforts

The U.S. Agency for International Development has granted USD1 million to support the emergency relief operations of the International Federation of Red Cross in quake-struck Chile, according to a news release.

USAID made the donation on top of sending shelter materials and water treatment units that aim to provide clean drinking water to roughly 20,000 people daily. The U.S. had provided USD50,000 in aid and communication equipment to Chile immediately after the quake.
