US House to decide on Jordan aid request in July

The U.S. Congress is considering a financial package worth USD2.7 billion for Jordan, in response to an appeal by the latter to “reduce pressure on its budget and to permit expansion of a social safety net to help the less well-off in the Kingdom.” The planned three-year arrangement, according to U.S. congressman Adam Schiff, will involve the annual disbursement of USD500 million in economic aid. The U.S. House will put the proposal to a vote in July. (Source: US House mulls USD2.7b aid package to Jordan/Menafn.com)
