US not naming countries failing on Iraq aid pledges

Washington is refusing to identify countries, which it said are lagging on Iraq aid delivery. “We will remind countries if they have forgotten about their pledges. I don’t want to get into specific names,” U.S. national security adviser Stephen Hadley stated. Bush spokesman Tony Snow said the White House is “still trying to track … down” which nations are failing to deliver on the commitments that they made during the October 2003 conference in Madrid. According to some U.S. officials, publicly naming these donors will harm efforts to persuade them to fulfill their promises. (Source: US fuzzy on Iraq aid pledges/Agence France-Presse)
