USAID chief pledges additional aid for Uganda

U.S. Agency for International Development head Henrietta Fore confirmed that the agency will hike up its budget for Uganda’s development programs. Fore made the announcement while visiting flower farms and coffee plantations in the country’s Mukono community. “We are very proud that Uganda has gained from the private-public partnerships, which is one of the initiatives we promote. The country is moving towards self sustainability,” she said. “Uganda is richly blessed with fertile soils which produce quality coffee. Your coffee is good and we will consume more.” Fore expects future funding to top the USD440 million that the agency gave for a range of education, health and economic projects last year.
