USAID Guatemala May Earmark US$10 Million for New Awards

The U.S. Agency for International Development expects to fund new awards with its fiscal 2009 budget for Guatemala, the USAID planning and program support office told Devex.

The agency anticipates an operating budget of US$40.8 million for the fiscal year. An estimated US$10 million may be allotted to new awards under the governance program, and education and family planning activities.

USAID is still operating under a continuing resolution at this time since the appropriations bill is yet to be passed. The mission office expects to receive the fiscal 2009 funding in June or July of this year. In addition to the fiscal budget, the agency is also committing US$15 million worth of commodities for the food aid program.
